  • Is there a fee to submit to the competition?

    No, there is no fee. It is completely free.
  • What are the requirements for my submission?

    Submissions must be rendered with Chaos Vantage using KitBash3D assets provided. Post processing such as color adjustments, editing, and sound design are allowed. The content of the animation must be based on the provided assets. You can supplement the scene with the additional the assets provided to you. You can also include your own geometry and textures if desired. But your creation should be limited to the center island of the city. The contestant can create the animation based on animating the camera, adjusting the lighting of the scene, as well as some as well as other animation that is possible inside of Vantage. For more on what is possible, please refer to our introduction video.
  • What software can I use to create my submission?

    Submissions are required to have been created with Chaos Group’s Vantage using Utopia assets provided by KitBash3D.
  • What criteria is my submission judged on?

    The Building Utopia Competition entries will be scored in two categories: artistry and storytelling. In artistry, the judges will consider the overall look and feel of the animation, paying careful attention to composition, lighting, and cinematography. In storytelling, the judges will look at the creativity, originality, and strength of the narrative.
  • Can I include music with my submission?

    Sure! As long as you can prove you own the rights. Copyrighted art including music is not allowed.It is the sole responsibility of the Applicant to secure authorization and permission from the owner(s) of any and all trademarked content or materials, such as music, included within the submission. Sponsors reserve the right to disqualify any submission containing unauthorized inclusion of trademarked content or materials.
  • How many times can I submit?

    Participants are limited to one submission each.
  • I'm having problems uploading, what other options do I have to submit my work?

    While most people do not have problems, slow or unreliable internet connection can sometimes cause the upload process to fail. If this happens to you try to send your upload again from a different connection or browser. If you are still experiencing problems, please contact us at buildingutopia@cgarchitect.com
  • What is the schedule for the competition?

    The competition will follow the following schedule: (Dates Subject to Change)
    • Call for submissions

      December 2 – March 1 (12:00 PM Eastern Time / UTC-5)
    • Judging

      March 2 - April 2
    • Winner announced online

      April 14
  • If I win, how will my submission be used?

    Winners grant all Sponsors the right to use his/her full name (First and Last), image and likeness, voice, comments and submission content for advertising, publicity, and promotional purposes without territorial, time or use limitations, including without limitation online announcements, web pages, social media, blog posts and other promotions, without additional compensation or notice.
  • When will winners receive prizes that were outlined in the prizes section?

    Sponsors will attempt to contact each selected winner, nominee, entrant by email in March 2021.
  • What if I need help with using Chaos Group Vantage or have questions?
